Welcome to Walter Sisulu University and to Academic Literacy. Academic literacy is an enrichment course in the Extended Programme aimed at helping students understand the value of academic discourse. It seeks to enhance throughput at Higher education by developing the necessary skills that enable students to manoeuvre and achieve their career goals on record time. This course develops the following interrelated skills:
• Information gathering techniques
• Listening and speaking skills
• Critical/logical thinking skills
• Reading and writing skills
• Communication skills
